Alan Azizolahoff and Edgar Paz Ravines names cleared of any wrong doing!

The businessmen Alan Azizolahoff and Edgar Paz Ravines will not face criminal charges in relation to the death of 29 youths in the Utopia disco which occurred in July 2002.

Sonia Chávez Gil of the Crown Prosecution Service ratified the findings of the original preliminary investigation which accused the businessmen of culpable homicide.

The magistrate took the decision to reject the case for the legal team of the victims’ families after failing to find any clear link between the events at Utopia and the businessmen, furthermore it was found that there was no evidence to indicate their responsibility for the charge presented to them.

Los empresarios Alan Azizolahoff y Edgar Paz Ravines no serán denunciados penalmente ante el Poder Judicial por la muerte de 29 jóvenes en el incendio que se registró en la discoteca Utopía, ocurrido en julio del año 2002.

Esto debido a que la titular de la cuarta Fiscalía Superior Penal de Lima, Sonia Chávez Gil, ratificó el archivo de la investigación preliminar seguida a dichos empresarios por el presunto delito de homicidio culposo.

La magistrada adoptó esta medida al rechazar el recurso de queja que presentó la defensa legal de los familiares de las víctimas del caso Utopía contra la decisión de la vigésimo primera Fiscalía Penal de Lima en la que resuelve no denunciar penalmente a estos empresarios y archiva dicha investigación preliminar al establecer que no se pudo acreditar la responsabilidad de estos últimos frente al cargo que se le atribuye en torno a este hecho.
